Two things really struck me today as I read Ezekiel 40-48; 1. it is a description of the rebuilding of the temple during the millennial reign of Christ; 2. John McArthur agrees with me that it is a description of the rebuilding of the temple during the millennial reign of Christ. I strive to do things this way for the express purpose of confirming that I am not just regurgitating the theology someone else proclaims. I have a McArthur study bible, but I strive not to consult it until I have diligently sought understanding of a particular text by reading and reading and prayerful contemplation of that text. Anyone who thinks America is contemporary Israel just demonstrates his complete lack of understanding and failure to carefully study the texts provided in God’s word on the topic. This detailed description of the restored temple and the sacrifices that will be required by the King of kings makes it clear it will be Israel, the tribes of Judah, Rueben, Gad, Asher, Naphatali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin who will be honoring Him, entering His temple to make their sacrifices, and those who join themselves to Israel (aka the church).
The incredible detail Ezekiel gives of the temple make it clear to any sane observer that he could not have written the words he wrote without the hand of the Lord being upon him. I was going to set to the task of reproducing Ezekiel’s description of that temple until I discovered John McArthur already did it. That temple will be three stories high with each story ascending larger than the one before it. It seems like a strange structure unless you realize the spaces on the lower stories were there to store items used in the temple worship during Christ’s millennial reign.
I suppose, to this point the point of today’s point may escape you. Well, trust me, it hasn’t escaped me. There are millions today who haven’t a clue what I just wrote means. And, just as important, there are even more who could care less. If you are one of those, I suggest you need to be trembling in your boots. Your complete ignorance of such things indicates two things: 1. you have been the victim of sloppy teaching by your preacher; and. 2. you’re going to be “totally” embarrassed when Jesus comes back to receive you unto Himself.
I’ve written it and said it countless times, but it bears repeating, “God has spoken. It isn’t His fault if you have no idea what He has said.” And that’s God’s word for us today.
Oh yes, no doubt it is the Millennial Temple. I feel that a transition is made though at chapter 47 to the eternal state. The water flowing from the threshold conforms just too well to Revelation 22:1.
